HIGHLIGHTS OF THE TOUR

The first part of the tour takes you over the majestic Himalaya offering you the long cherished breathtaking view of the Himalayan range including MT EVEREST (8,848 m) by an hour long Trans-Himalayan flight from KATHMANDU to LHASA.

The 2nd part brings you so close to the Shangri-la of TIBET making you feel yourself as being a part of a unique culture richly woven with legends, myths, rituals and festivals when you are in LHASA: cultural capital of TIBET, GYANTSE & XIGATSE: central cultural centres. It also take you to the Tibet’s biggest salt lake called NAMTSO LAKE at a height of 4,700 m (260 km away north-west of Lhasa). It is indeed a never-to-miss place while visiting Tibet.

The last part of the tour takes you to the typically wonderful but far flung Tibetan landscape with a very high probability of encountering the nomads looking after the famous yak herds.

Every descent right from Lalung La (pass of 5,050 m) starts telling you how high the plateau is along with the fascinating views of the incredible formation of the highest plateau of the world with awesomely beautiful rocks, cascades and canyons slightly hidden in the thin flying mists amidst the mighty presence of MT CHO OYU (8,201 m) & MT XISHAPAGMA (8,012 m). ITINERARY:

DAY 01  KATHMANDU (1300M) -LHASA (3650M)

Fly to LHASA crossing over the panoramic Himalayan ranges (1 hr). Transfer (1 hr) and check in to your hotel. Full rest for acclimatisation.

DAY 02:  IN LHASA

Full day sightseeing tour in LHASA including POTALA PALACE & JOKHANG TEMPLE & NORBULINKA – HTL

DAY 03:  IN LHASA

Full day sightseeing tour in LHASA including DREPUNG MONASTERY, NECHUNG MONASTERY & SERA MONASTERY – HTL

DAY 04: LHASA – NAMTSO LAKE

Scenic drive to NAMTSO LAKE (biggest salt lake in Tibet at 4,700 m)(250+250 km) through the excellent GOLMUND highway and explore around and late afternoon, drive back to LHASA – HTL

DAY 05: LHASA – GYANTSE (3,950 m): 261 KM

Drive to GYANTSE via YAMADROKE LAKE and high passes: KARO LA (5010 m) & KAMBA LA (4794 m). PM: Visit KUMBUM & PHALKOR MONASTERY including GYANTSE DZONG – Hotel

DAY 06: GYANTSE – XIGATSE (3,900m): 90 KM

AM:. Scenic drive to XIGATSE. PM: Visit TASHILHUMPU, PHUNTSOLING AND JONANG KUUMBUM MONASTERIES – HTL

DAY 07: XIGATSE – XEGAR( 4,200 M): 244 KM

Scenic drive to XEGAR via GYATSO LA (pass of 5,220 m, the highest en route) – HTL.

DAY 08: XEGAR – ZHANGMU (2,300 m)(245 km)

Scenic drive to ZHANGMU via LALUNG LA (pass of 5,050 m) from where one can enjoy the magnificent view of MT XISHAPAGMA (8,012 m) & MT CHO OYU (8,201 m)(weather permitting). The downhill drive from the LALUNG LA to ZHANGMU (border town) through the amazing landscape  reveals the secrets of the wonderful formation of the Tibetan plateau with hundreds of waterfalls, deep gorge made by the BHOTE KOSHI RIVER – HTL.

DAY 09: ZHANGMU – KATHMANDU

After necessary border formalitieis, scenic drive to KATHMANDU through the green lush Nepalese landscape – Transfer to your hotel.
